branding marketing design

Branding is more than just your logo. Branding tells the world who you are. It describes the benefits, values, culture, and personality of your company so that consumers can decide if they want to be a part of it (i.e., become a customer). That is a lot of work for your brand to do. Your brand is your visual identity. Consider that 65% of the general population are visual learners, so they’re going to remember your brand before they remember your name or what you do.

A strong brand gives your company value, recognition, trust, and referrals.

1. Value

Good branding increases the company’s value to customers, employees, and competitors. When people easily recognize who you are and what you do, when your company’s identity is understood within seconds, then you’re on the way to sales. People buy what they know, like, and trust.

2. Recognition

Familiarity breeds fondness, and the right branding improves recognition. The more someone sees your brand, the more ready they are to buy what you are selling. It usually takes 3 times seeing a brand to start to create familiarity.

3. Trust

Familiarity creates trust – see above as to why. Trust is super important. It is the difference between customers buying from you or buying from your competitor. They will buy from who they trust—they trust who they see more consistently.

4. Referrals

Branding makes it easy for happy clients to refer you. If you have your branding constantly out in the world in all the right places, it makes it easier for clients to refer you to friends, family, and Facebook groups (but that’s another article).

Once you have created your brand the one thing you have to do, above everything else, is be consistent! Did I mention that already? It bears repeating. Always use the same colors, shapes, and fonts in everything that you do.

So, who can help you create a strong brand? A good design studio will work with you to find out all about your company, not just what colors you like or your favorite font. They need to convey all of the above information into something iconic and memorable that translates across all mediums and platforms. Choose carefully when hiring a designer. You have literally put the life of your company in their hands.
